My Music Genre Choice

Looking at my market research, I have come to the decision to make a music video within the country/pop genre. I have decided this genre because country isn't a genre that is usually featured in the charts, but has many well-known artists and so people are aware of the genre. For example, Taylor Swift, LeAnne Rimes, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sheryl Crow, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. Although a lot of these artists are successful and are famous within country areas such as Nashville, many people do not listen to this music because it is cultural music and won't appeal to a wide audience. However, in more recent years, artists such as Taylor Swift have put a modern twist on the country genre to make it more attractive to a younger and larger audience. Country songs usually have an upbeat and happy vibe because the 'folk' aspect is joyful and the pop aspect adds excitement to the songs.


I have chosen not to make a music video within the other genres because the popular genres such as R&B and rock, have many successful artists who have already produced well-known music videos along with their number 1 singles. Therefore, it would be hard to replicate a music video as good as the ones already produced.
