About My Artist- Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is a seven-time Grammy Award winner with a successful career in the music industry, developing from a country singer to a pop artist. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in country music when she was 14. However, with her growing success, Swift has moved from being a  young, innocent country girl and is now seen as a more attractive female adult with a thriving career in a pop, producing more upbeat and lively tracks, that are less emotional then her first self-written songs.

I have chosen an emotional song from her second album, Speak Now, that tells a coming of age narrative which is relatable and personal. It is an acoustic song which I think represents Swift's developing career well.

I personally view Taylor Swift as the girl next door, who is a fun, lively and bubbly 'teen'. I think the songs from her first two albums represent her as being a normal, down-to-earth person who experiences the same emotions and feelings as everybody else.

After looking at what these young teenage girls have said about Taylor Swift, I can identify them as her target audience. They perceive Taylor Swift as a relatable character who leads a realistic lifestyle but understand the struggle that she has faced during her development through the music industry. Her persona and style of music has changed in her recent album but the 'Speak Now' album and the one before that, 'Fearless' seem to be their most favourite.
